Relocating for a job? Moving checklist for graduates
At some point during their lives, most people will have to think about relocating for a job. A huge step for any graduate, relocat
The Give A Grad A Go website has undergone a huge redesign - and we’re very proud to reveal our brand new look! As well as being easier to navigate, the website also has a whole host of new features that will make the process of applying for graduate jobs quicker and more streamlined.
Here are just a few of the great features of our new website – go test them out for yourself!
We’re often asked how graduate recruitment agencies work - and we think it’s important that our graduates understand all the different stages of our process, as well as the actions that they will need to take along the way.
To help you understand how Give A Grad A Go’s process works, our website now includes a detailed breakdown of each stage.
The journey to landing a graduate job starts with creating a profile (more on that later), then applying for a job, the shortlisting stage, and finally, to the interview & feedback stage. The page also indicates what will happen if you are unsuccessful at any stage, and how we will endeavour to continue to help you if this is the case.
This page has been designed specifically with graduates in mind - and should help you to better understand how graduate recruitment agencies work, gain insight into each stage of our process, and to recognise the different actions that you’ll need to take on your journey to success.
Our new and improved registration process allows us to gain more of an insight than ever before into exactly what you are looking for in your ideal graduate job.
**If you’re unsure what you’re looking for, you can simply drop your CV when you first visit the site. We’ll take a look at your CV and if we think we have a role that you’d be a good fit for – we will contact you!**
When you register for the first time, you will be required to set up your own personal profile. Your profile will provide us with the detail we need to match you with the graduate jobs that suit your skills, qualifications and career aspirations.
You’ll first be asked to enter your contact details, and upload a version of your CV.
At this stage, you’ll have the option to upload additional versions of your CV. Don’t think you have to do this now, though, because anytime you are applying for a particular role, you can upload an alternative version then and there.
Then you’ll need to tell us about your education and degree background - simply search for your university, degree subject, grade and graduation year from the drop-down list provided. If you can't find your University or Degree Subject from the list of values, simply click Other. We review every CV you use to apply with – so this information won't be missed!
Next, you’ll be asked which industries most interest you – and will be given a list of key industries to choose from.
How many industries you select depends on whether you’re absolutely set on one in particular, or you’d rather keep your options open for now. If you’re really open-minded, you also have the option to choose ‘I’m open to ideas’ - and our expert team will think about which would suit your skills and qualifications.
As we go into more detail, you’ll be given a list of role types to choose from – again, you have the option to choose as few or as many as you like.
In this section you’ll be asked to provide details of any skills or relevant qualifications you have.
The more details you enter here, the better your job matches will be – so scroll through the list of skills provided and select the ones you have. Don't worry if you do not feel you have any skills in our list – it will not have an impact on your applications!
You'll need to tell us where you are looking to work, by adding at least one preferred location. Finally, you’ll need to adjust the scale to the minimum salary you’re seeking.
That’s it! Your profile is now complete, and we’ll be able to start matching you to the graduate jobs that are a great fit for you and your career goals.
Your Candidate Dashboard now allows you to track your application progress from one place. This will enable you to review the stage you are currently at for each of the roles you have applied for.
Another new feature of your Candidate Dashboard is that you can easily update or add an alternative version of your CV. There is no limit to how many CV’s you can upload, so if you’re going to be applying for a range of different roles you can get prepared by adding several versions to your Dashboard!
You’ll also see a section of your Dashboard called your ‘Recommended Jobs’ – these are the graduate jobs that best-match you based on your previous applications. Given that you’ll have already applied for a similar role, chances are you’ll be a great fit for the recommended jobs – so take a look through them and apply for any that take your fancy!
Based on your subscription preferences, you’ll receive an email every time a job goes live which matches your skills, qualifications and career aspirations. Your Intelligent Job Alerts will ensure that you are the first to know about the graduate jobs that suit what you are looking for.
