Their work has been so impressive that they have both now been promoted – and our two Graduate Resourcers are training to become Consultants.
The transition to consultancy will see Joe and Alex being given their own set of clients and specialising in industries they showed interest in during their time as Resourcers. They’ll be working with their clients to understand exactly what they are looking for in terms of business needs, culture fit and role requirements – and introducing them to the very best-matched candidates from our 100,000-strong database.
It’s an exciting career move for both Joe and Alex, so we caught up with them to discuss how they’re feeling about the transition – and to find out what they have learnt from their roles as Graduate Resourcers that will be useful as they become Consultants.
Joe – Excited! A little nervous, but that’s OK. I’m hoping to channel my nerves, hit the ground running and see what I can do in my new role as a Consultant!
Alex – Really excited! I’ve loved my time working as a Graduate Resourcer, but I’m so excited to start working with clients, helping them to grow their team and scale up their business.
Joe – I’m looking forward to having a more “360-degree” view. It’s been great to speak to so many fantastic candidates and that’s given me a great understanding of the attributes that are needed for particular graduate jobs. But in my new role, I’m excited to become really invested in specific roles, clients and candidates – being able to manage different aspects of the whole process is something I’m really looking forward to.
Alex – I’m really looking forward to generating new business and helping graduates secure their dream jobs. I’m a bit anxious about juggling many different roles at once, and making sure that both candidate and client are happy – but it’s a challenge I feel ready to take on!
Joe – I am going to be focusing mainly on IT, Tech & Digital roles, with a few graphic / creative designer roles thrown in for good measure! These are the roles that I’ve predominantly found candidates for during my time as a Graduate Resourcer, so it’s going to be great to see more of the other side and to work with amazing clients in these sectors.
Alex – I’ve focused primarily on corporate roles during my time as a Resourcer, so moving into consultancy I’ll initially be working within sectors like FinTech, Banking & Finance and PR & Communications – but there is the potential for me to work with many other clients, too!
Joe – I’ve learnt to be disciplined in my time management, and to constantly maintain professionalism when representing Give A Grad A Go – whether that be on the phone, via email, or in person. I think this is going to be hugely beneficial moving into my new role, where I’ll be meeting and introducing myself to clients. I’m also expecting to be very busy – so I’m glad to have learnt how to manage my time effectively during my time as a Resourcer!
Alex – I’ve learn how to extract information from candidates and find out exactly what they are looking for, their skills, experiences and so on. I think that this will be beneficial as I move to become a Consultant – as it will help me ensure that every candidate is the perfect fit for the particular role I’m working on.
Joe – I’ve learnt so much in the few months I’ve been here, and have increased my knowledge of many different industries and sectors. Now that I have a good understanding of what different clients and opportunities require, I can’t wait to start making placements! Oh, and I’ve absolutely loved speaking to amazing graduates, day in, day out – so I’m thrilled that I’ll get to continue doing so as a Consultant.
Alex – The opportunity to progress so quickly has been amazing. I’ve been really lucky to work on a huge variety of roles, so I feel like I’ve developed my knowledge of many different sectors very quickly. There is also a huge focus on professional development here – I’ve had so much training and encouragement, and I think that’s the reason I’ve been able to move up so quickly!
We can’t wait to introduce Joe and Alex to our clients, and to see what they will do in their new roles as Consultants.
