Undeterred by the weather warnings, this week Give A Grad A Go headed up to The University of Edinburgh to take part in a number of exciting events in collaboration with the Business Society and the Women in Business Society.
To kick off the trip, we headed to Start|Ed, a conference run by the Business Society for entrepreneurial students looking to pursue a career in a start-up. As the Official Employability Partner of the Business Society, we were asked to run a workshop on how to secure a job at a start-up – but in an unexpected turn of events, the venue closed due to red weather alerts!
In true British spirit, the attendees and the Give A Grad A Go team remained undeterred and moved to a nearby café, where we spoke to the students for the remainder of the afternoon.
Later that evening, we headed to an informal networking event organised by the Women in Business Society. The event was exclusive to Edinburgh-based final year students who are part of Give A Grad A Go’s student community (Boost), which gave us a fantastic opportunity to chat to soon-to-be graduates about their job hunt.
The following morning, we attended a CV drop-in session organised by the Women in Business Society, where we sat down with students one-on-one to give them advice on how to improve their CVs.
Our trip to Edinburgh was certainly eventful, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. To all of the students who braved the snow and came out to see us – we hope you enjoyed speaking to the Give A Grad A Go team and took something away from the events!
