In this Head of Marketplace position you will join a VC backed and funded logistics marketplace for moving anything, anywhere. They have a successful proposition for both businesses and consumers. The software uses a scalable network of independent drivers and fleets to provide a move service on the schedule of the customer. They are a technology 1st provider that matches drivers to jobs that overlap or are close to their existing routes and locations, this can significantly lower costs and leverages healthy business model and Marketplace ecosystem.

Please note: the company is based in Plymouth. There will be some remote working options but they do require lots of attendance in the office, so if you are based outside of the local area you will need to either commute or relocate.

Job profile

The position of Head of Marketplace is a senior leadership position within the company. You will lead on all Marketplace activity, including being responsible for the business development of the Driver Eco system operation and management across the business. This is a huge role and should be very exciting to the right candidate.

You may already have a successful track record building and engaging with a Marketplace supply chain/team. You will understand all of the dynamics and complexities of building a highly retentive platform that grows itself organically through their own leadership and entrepreneurial spirit and initiatives.

Thought leadership is pivotal to this role, not only in terms of driver/fleet propositions but also in demonstrating sound industry knowledge and understanding. It is vital that you are both capable and comfortable to make informed choices and judgment calls based on current trends and data.

Key responsibilities

  • Growth of the platform through targeting new partnerships with b2b clients (for example Hermes, Amazon etc), while also engaging & managing customer success for existing and smaller clients.
  • Having one on one conversations with drivers, both to learn about their experiences and to problem solve for them.
  • Running and managing the entire onboarding process of new shifters to the platform in a smart and super scalable way. This includes through running regular onboarding webinars and perhaps the occasional one to one with a shifter.
  • Rolling out updates to drivers, being the “face” of the business to thousands of drivers, across videos, and all other selected update and communication channels

Job requirements

  • An ability and prior experience in effectively and potently using data / business analytics with tangible great results.
  • An expertise in making insightful decisions that make an impact and focus on where and what to target; to help drive sales, revenue, experience and profitability upwards and the business forwards.
  • You will have hands on experience of working in a fast-paced, high-pressured environment. underpinned by versatility and a can-do attitude.
  • You will have strong management and oversight capabilities but recognise and be comfortable with the necessity to at times get ‘stuck in and involved’.
