Operations Executive - Job description

In this Junior Operations Executive role in financial services, you will be involved with supporting the entire team with a wide variety of projects. Your role will focus largely on customer and internal operations, coming up with ideas to automate processes and getting hands-on with automation, as well as being involved in product, client liaison, and customer journeys. You will be given the opportunity to run solo projects from start to finish. As one of this Fintech start-up’s first employees, your role will be broad and evolve to meet the needs of the company. You will initially report directly to the CEO – given your broad role however, you will still work very closely with everyone in the team across various parts of the business. You’ll need to be a self-starter who can adapt and learn quickly. They are still a small team and so need someone who is willing to get their hands dirty and do the day-to-day work required.

Operations Executive - Key responsibilities

In this graduate Operations role in Finance Technology, you'll be involved in:

  • Managing internal and customer operations, supporting their service which helps savers find lost pensions
  • Managing inbound requests and transfers, and activating these operations
  • Work broadly to support the needs of the business, getting exposure to varied responsibilities
  • Managing and taking ownership of individual projects
  • Bringing new ideas to automate processes of their service
  • Speaking with clients directly, being customers, employers, pension providers and more
  • Exposure to customer journeys
  • Marketing operations for the business
  • Taking on responsibilities with the product
  • Using feedback from customers to improve the product and services – having a huge impact on the business and its development!
  • Performance monitoring

Operations Executive - Job requirements

  • A 2:1 or above degree from university, all degrees are welcome – you don’t need to have a finance background (in fact, humanities degrees are encouraged)!
  • Some experience within administration, customer service or operational support would be beneficial, but not necessary
  • Commercial experience (1-3 years) is also welcome, as they are offering a bracket salary
  • A real all-rounder at university, with leadership roles, societies, projects, internships, study abroad, etc
  • A total self-starter. You’ll be having an immense impact on the business which is constantly developing and progressing, you need to be ready for the fast-paced environment of a fintech start-up!
  • A strong operational skillset
  • detail-oriented and process-driven
  • Passionate about technology businesses and want to build a business as if they were a founder
  • Have experience of taking ownership of workstreams and projects and are able to independently solve problems
  • Have strong team-working and communication skills and is commercially-minded
  • Strong written and verbal communication
