In this Junior Frontend Developer job, you will be working for a tech start up spun out of the University of Sheffield. You will be working on realising the true potential of robotics for the society of the future! Our clients’ products allow for the intuitive teleoperation of any robot with any VR headset, creating an immersive experience that can be adapted to all. Having grown organically over the past 2 years, they are now taking the next step in launching brand new products and looking for a creative front developer to join their team!

Please note: this role is initially Fixed Term for 12 months, with the possibility of transition to full time after.

Job description

In this Graduate Frontend Developer - remote role, you will be working within a dynamic software team, developing a web-based platform for robot manufacturers, robot developers, and non-technical users alike. A love of robotics and a passion for innovation is a must as you will be directly contributing to this unique and exciting sector from day one! You will work on the front end, user interface, streamlining the process and working with study groups on feedback and iteration.

Key responsibilities

In this Frontend Developer opportunity, your responsibilities will include:

  • Modifying and implementing UI components with complex state and design requirements
  • Follow wireframes and designs to build web components that will be added to the platform
  • Contributing to quality-assurance with basic unit and automation tests
  • Working towards the vision of the company, new features and improvements to the wider codebase
  • Working remotely with the founders to build and deliver project objectives

Job requirements

  • Educated to degree level, ideally in a Computer Science or relevant, technical discipline
  • Demonstrable skills in reactive frontend development
  • A strong grounding in front end technologies, JavaScript, HTML & CSS
  • Knowledge of ReactJS or React Native
  • A collaborative mindset and an interest to learn skills outside your immediate comfort zone

Bonus

  • Commercial experience of frontend software engineering
  • A good eye for design and a strong interest in UI/UX
  • Proficiency in Git
