Job description

In this Technical Engineer job in London, you will be working to provide first, second and some third-line customer support, working on the applications that deliver services to a portfolio of UK, European and Middle Eastern customers. Interacting with customers by phone, email and in person, you will work across departments and teams to ensure their customers receive the highest level of output from the product. Collaboration is key, working closely with the Forecasting team and liaising with your counterparts across US & NZ markets. This is a dynamic and fast-moving role, ideal for a skilled technical engineer who thrives on such crucial work!

Key responsibilities

In this Graduate Engineering opportunity in London, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manipulating and analysing large datasets in the process of building models
  • Working in cooperation with the Client Support Engineers to ensure the efficient delivery of forecasts and services
  • Interacting with clients via phone, email and in-person either in the office or directly at their place of business, consistently providing excellent customer and client support
  • Researching and helping to develop methodologies around emerging energy trends and new markets, potentially leading to new product development
  • Participate in planning, development, and testing of new applications
  • Using Unix/Windows command-line interfaces for interaction with the software product
  • Helping to maintain and develop the different data processing tools (data processing scripts, databases and forecast deliveries)

Job requirements

  • A technical, academic background in Computer Science or a relevant discipline
  • Previous experience working in a support team, ideally supporting a client/server application
  • Rock solid knowledge of networking protocols, e.g. TCP/IP, HTTP(S)
  • Experience working with database design, preferably with SQL
  • A background in OOP concepts and scripting languages – C, C++, Python would all be beneficial
  • Strong analytical skills and good attention to detail
