The worst job I've had

I have been very fortunate, I've always enjoyed and loved all jobs I've held, from being a waiter in a tapas bar, working on a hog roast stall (by far the tastiest), a hand full of bar roles at local pubs or even working in the tea rooms at the National Trust. I've always chosen jobs which I love and enjoy that way it doesn't feel like I'm working (as hard).

Job description

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, you will be joining an existing team of 2, working to identify, contact and convert potential clients into new business. Day to day, your role will involve managing the entire sales cycle, from lead to close – so you’ll be contacting businesses via phone and email, negotiating terms and fees, and playing a role in ongoing relationship management, ensuring that new clients receive the very best level of service. You will need to be a good negotiator with exceptional people skills – as your role will see you liaising with a range of potential new clients, then supporting them throughout their journey.

Key responsibilities

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying new businesses leads and researching industry sectors for new potential clients
  • Calling, emailing and converting outbound and inbound leads into new clients
  • Negotiating terms and fees over the phone and email
  • Contributing to marketing ideas and strategies
  • Attending conferences and exhibitions to help promote the brand
  • Ongoing relationship management - ensuring new clients are receiving a high level of service
  • Ultimately helping to increase the number of businesses that are using the Give A Grad A Go service

Job requirements

  • A 2.1 from a top university
  • A tenacious work ethic with a determination to succeed
  • The ability to instantly build a great rapport either over the phone or in person
  • Excellent written communication
  • A positive mind set & self-motivation
  • Excellent time management skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • This is a sales role, so you'll need to be competitive, money driven and target motivated
