The worst job I've had

I have been very fortunate, I've always enjoyed and loved all jobs I've held, from being a waiter in a tapas bar, working on a hog roast stall (by far the tastiest), a hand full of bar roles at local pubs or even working in the tea rooms at the National Trust. I've always chosen jobs which I love and enjoy that way it doesn't feel like I'm working (as hard).

Job description

In this German Speaking Business Development Executive job, you will be working at the heart of the business, with the aim to grow and maintain potential relationships with new clients in the German market. You will be playing a key role in the growth of the company; using their software to engage with prospective clients, and working closely with Business Development Managers to book in product demonstrations. You will need to be an exceptional communicator, as you will also be developing your pitch structure as you progress in the role.

Key responsibilities

In this German Speaking Business Development Executive job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Bringing on new business and signing up new clients to their platform
  • Qualifying leads and being the first point of contact via email and phone
  • Using their innovative software to engage with prospective clients through emails, calls, networking and research
  • Developing your pitch structure – being able to uncover prospective clients needs and introduce an innovative solution that adds tangible value
  • Deliver marketing material and product insight to prospects while establishing a trusting relationship with key stakeholders

So what are we looking for?

  • Fluent in German (a Scandinavian language would also be considered)
  • A minimum degree result of a 2.1
  • Experience in Business Development, Recruitment or a Sales-based role is ideal
  • A clear desire to work in a sale based role and a passion for tech or SaaS platforms
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Growth mindset; not afraid to try new approaches, turning mistakes or failures into a learning opportunity

  • Finalising technical reports
  • Updating and changing company policies to speed up delivery process
  • Gaining a deep understanding of funding schemes and government funding options

So, what are we looking for?

  • A university degree, ideally in Engineering or Science
  • Experience within engineering and science, outside of academic (e.g. work experience or a placement year in this field)
  • Confident speaking about all things tech
  • Previous experience with liaising with developers / CTO's about technical aspects
  • A strong rapport-builder with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A confident, independent self-starter who loves finding new ways of engaging clients
  • Confidence working with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organisational skills - you must be able to efficiently work across multiple projects
  • Experience with negotiations and contract management
