As Give A Grad A Go's Team Leader, I am responsible for leading a team of four Consultants and two Resourcers. It’s my job to make sure that my team are supported, getting all the help they need in order to grow within the business, as well as managing my own client base.

My area of expertise

My team and I work with clients within a huge array of sectors - including FinTech, Recruitment, FMCG and Retail to name a few. We are also building a solid client base within some emerging markets including MedTech, HealthTech, EdTech and InsurTech (everything tech!)

I came in to the office to discuss which graduate jobs might be right for me, and realised straight away that my ideal place to work would be somewhere like Give A Grad A Go. I’d started the job hunt looking at Marketing & Advertising roles, but soon realised that a role in Recruitment would offer me the exact opportunities I was looking for - networking with clients, being rewarded for hard work and chatting with graduates and clients on the phone. After spending 3 memorable hours in the office, Cary offered me a job and I accepted straight away! I’ve now been here for 3 years - and counting!

The worst job I've had

Every summer I worked on a local farm as a waitress. The role had it perks (lots of hefty bacon butties) - but mucking out the barns and the smell of manure really took its toll....

Key responsibilities

In this Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator graduate job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating all Diversity & Inclusion activities
  • Providing project and administrative support for key external and internal projects and events
  • Supporting the team in implementing the Diversity & Inclusion strategy
  • Building strong relations within internal teams
  • Coordinating with external partnerships such as universities, charities and conferences
  • Developing an up-to-date knowledge of developments within wider policy, environment, equality law and sector trends
  • Coordinating budgets and managing finance

So, what are we looking for?

  • Experience in administration, particularly with managing complex diaries
  • 2 years + commercial experience post-university is desirable
  • Experienced in coordinating events is essential
  • Previous HR experience would be a bonus
  • Evidence of work which has shown your commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential
  • Someone who is flexible and highly responsive to the needs of internal teams
  • Expert knowledge of using standard office tools, including spreadsheets
  • Fantastic communication and influencing skills and intuitively build relationships with highly intelligent people from diverse backgrounds
  • Someone who can remain calm under pressure and is able to handle a range of issues with diplomacy and discretion
  • Someone who is prepared for anything and willing to roll up their sleeves in order to get the job done - no task is too big or too small

  • Explaining the R&D tax Credits scheme to developers / CTO's / wider technology teams and guiding them through the process
  • Finalising technical reports
  • Updating and changing company policies to speed up delivery process
  • Gaining a deep understanding of funding schemes and government funding options

So, what are we looking for?

  • A university degree, ideally in Engineering or Science
  • Experience within engineering and science, outside of academic (e.g. work experience or a placement year in this field)
  • Confident speaking about all things tech
  • Previous experience with liaising with developers / CTO's about technical aspects
  • A strong rapport-builder with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A confident, independent self-starter who loves finding new ways of engaging clients
  • Confidence working with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organisational skills - you must be able to efficiently work across multiple projects
  • Experience with negotiations and contract management
