The worst job I've had

I spent one summer working as a Field Sports Camp Co-ordinator, putting on events across Suffolk for local kids who wanted to get active. It would have been a great job... if any kids turned up! Due to a mess up with the advertising, no one knew we were even running the camp.

Job description

In this Business Development graduate scheme, you will get the opportunity to work across several different aspects of the business, whilst learning from hugely successful entrepreneurs. You will get the chance to work in 4 key areas – sales, recruitment & growth, business strategy and digital projects - so you'll be able to develop a real range of skills on this structured grad scheme. You will need to be adaptable, hard-working and business-savvy, as you’ll be working on many different tasks and be expected to pick up new responsibilities quickly.

Key responsibilities

In this Business Development graduate scheme, your responsibilities will include:

  • Sales - You will take part in consultative sales (no cold-calling) and strategic account management on projects ranging from 50k - 500k, to accelerate the company’s growth
  • Recruitment & Growth – You will play a big part in hiring the best engineers, and smartest business brains – handling agencies, interviewing candidates and coaching them through to offer stage
  • Strategy - You’ll play a critical part in shaping the future of the business, optimising processes across the business, and leveraging your experience on the job
  • Digital Projects – You will be in direct contact with the clients’ senior level decision makers, to build custom applications that meet their end users’ needs

So, what are we looking for?

  • A minimum of a 2.1 from a top university
  • A proven interest in technology
  • Previous client-facing experience would be preferable, but is not essential
  • Fantastic communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ambition to thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment
  • Evidence of a previous attempt at an entrepreneurial venture, perhaps whilst studying, would be a bonus!
