The worst job I've had

My worst job has to be when I was a security guard at a (now in administration) shoe warehouse. At 5"3 it was pretty bleak. My months' trial resulted in more shoes being stolen than ever before.

With heaps of investment from some of the biggest players in British business, they are growing rapidly and are now on the lookout for a Commercial Strategist to join their team.

Job description

In this Commercial Strategy Manager role, you will be responsible for helping to determine what ‘good’ looks like. Working closely with various Heads of Departments, you will establish how to measure success, advise on KPIs and help devise initiatives to motivate internal teams. To be successful in this role it's essential that you are both highly analytical and detail oriented - as you’ll need to interpret data, spot patterns, and inspire others when implementing brilliant strategy.

Key responsibilities

In this Commercial Manager job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing company-wide analysis alongside competitor analysis to determine what ‘good’ looks like
  • Creating KPIs and helping to produce best practice documentation
  • Deliver guidance to Heads of Department in regards to strategic priorities, market developments and performance trends
  • Tracking and monitoring the impact of strategic initiatives – how have they been received by the wider company
  • Presenting back to management of core findings – ensuring this is supported by clear and concise documentation
  • Using Google Sheets and Excel daily to formulate data for commercial purposes

Job requirements

  • A MBA from a top 10 university
  • 3 years' commercial experience within strategy or business analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal – you will be presenting your finding back on a regular basis
  • The desire to work in a fast-paced start-up
  • Familiarity with BigQuery and SQl would be a real plus!
  • A proactive worker who isn’t afraid to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in!
