Through my time at Give A Grad A Go so far, I have had the opportunity to work on many roles in a variety of sectors. But because of my scientific background I enjoy working on the graduate jobs that we have on in the MedTech and HealthTech sectors.

Why I chose to work at Give A Grad A Go

I initially used Give A Grad A Go to help me find a job. I got to the final stages of lots of jobs, but nothing was quite the right fit for me. When I came in to talk to some of the Consultants here, one of them suggested that I come and interview here! I hadn’t considered graduate jobs in recruitment before, but upon careful consideration I thought that it would be an excellent chance for me to develop myself, as well as help out graduates who are going through exactly what I was.

The worst job I've had

I wouldn't say that I have had any really terrible jobs thankfully! However there have certainly been some tough moments that have not been too much fun. The closest I have come to quitting is when I worked on a sheep farm in Australia. It was the middle of summer, about 40 degrees and we were working in the wool shed. The roof was corrugated iron and only made it hotter - after a few hours of hard physical work I had definitely had enough!

In this Account Manager job, you will be working closely with a number of clients from day one – helping to understand their business objectives and co-ordinating PR programmes to support these. You will be responsible for everything from researching relevant media coverage, drafting press releases, liaising closely and developing relationships with members of the press to get your clients the coverage they need.

Key responsibilities

In this Account Manager job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing an in-depth working knowledge of clients and their business objectives and relevant wider industry issues, and acting as clients’ day-to-day point of contact
  • Developing a working relationship with clients, the media and other advisors
  • Driving the teams on accounts, and implementing work programmes to support clients’ business objectives, prioritising and delegating tasks
  • Overseeing the production of client contact and progress reports
  • Leading in preparing, organising and handling announcement days and client events
  • Working independently to write press releases and financial statements, and attend press launches
  • Overseeing the collation and analysis of media coverage, the organisation of meetings and conference calls with the media and analysts, and the preparation of press distribution lists
  • Leading in producing analyst feedback documents, providing recommendations and strategic advice
  • Overseeing the logistical aspects of a possible crisis situation

So, what are we looking for?

  • A 2.1 from a good university
  • 1 years' PR experience
  • Superior analytical and administrative capabilities
  • An ability to manage client accounts well, with high standards of organisation and attention to detail
  • Good presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • An emerging network of contacts with journalists, brokers and analysts
  • Good basic financial knowledge and understanding of markets/financial transactions and the regulatory framework, and familiarity with PLC reporting structures
  • An ability to operate in a number of sectors, on retained accounts and projects alike, across the spectrum of communications issues
  • A good understanding of social media and trends
  • Eligibility to work in the UK at the point at which the role commences
