Why I chose to work at Give A Grad A Go

I came to Give A Grad A Go as a graduate 4 years ago in the hope of finding a role within Marketing & Advertising or PR & Communications in London. It quickly became clear that what I was really looking for was a chance to communicate with these industries rather than work within them. I was really sold by the Give A Grad A Go culture and opportunity to develop quickly and build up an exciting portfolio of clients I could manage. There's nothing more rewarding than helping graduates find their dream job and helping a company build their teams with hard-working graduates.

The worst job I've had

I found myself working in the energy industry before I worked at Give A Grad A Go. It was really interesting to learn more about energy, but setting margins for huge corporate energy tenders felt a little bit out of my comfort zone!

Job description

In this Graphic Designer job, you will be working from the company’s Head Office, and joining the tight knit marketing team as their first in-house designer and artworker. This an amazing opportunity to build on your portfolio of design skills – as your work may include infographics, decks, email templates, brochures, website & social media banners, exhibition displays and logo design. You will be directly reporting to the Head of Marketing, but there is a real opportunity here to use your design flair and put your creative stamp on their marketing collateral.

Key responsibilities

In this Graphic Designer graduate job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Artworking print collateral for their members PoS programme
  • Handling the existing production of B2B publications
  • Working towards new methods of visual storytelling on existing collateral materials
  • Managing current relationships with external design and print agencies
  • Assisting with design, maintenance and production of website pages where required
  • Developing skills in new design technologies including video production
  • Working with brand guidelines, but thinking outside of the box, too!

So, what are they looking for?

  • Educated to degree level with a minimum 2:1 result, ideally in a relevant design based subject
  • 6 months' experience in a graphic design role
  • A broad and varied design portfolio showcasing digital and print design skills
  • A friendly and approachable person with excellent communication skills
  • A good awareness and appreciation for marketing
  • A creative person who has the enthusiasm to offer new visual ideas to the marketing team
  • Previous experience in HTML and CSS
  • Well versed with the Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop skills
  • Any video editing experience would be a bonus!
  • A fantastic eye for detail with strong typograph and proof-reading skills
  • A good understanding of the print production process

  • Defining project scope, delivery plans as well as managing scheduling, budgets and deployments plans
  • Managing all creative briefs and briefing all internal and external designers/developers as well as external suppliers
  • Using problem-solving skills, resources and own knowledge to successfully deliver projects to completion.
  • Chairing company status meetings as well as leading project teams to gather information for future projects and identifying general improvements to delivery process

So, what are we looking for?

  • At least 2 years’ experience working as a Project Manager in a digital agency or in the digital space
  • A 2.1 degree from university
  • Some experience working in Agile environments and using agile methodologies e.g. Kanban, Waterfall
  • Some experience within Marketing or Product Marketing
  • An analytical mind – someone who has a good understanding of analytics
  • Excellent communicator -both written and verbal
  • A strong interest in the technology/mobile/ user experience sector
  • Exposure to using a CMS, analytical tools and advertising platforms
  • Any knowledge of tech/development/programming is a benefit but not a necessity!
