The worst job I've had

I once worked in a milkshake shop, and it definitely did not bring all the boys to the yard. The mixture of summer, teenagers and milkshakes resulted in hours and hours of washing up - I was only trusted to make an actual milkshake after two months of being there!

Job description

In this Account Manager job, you will be working on three major accounts, as well as assisting with pitching to and onboarding new accounts. Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with an Account Director, you will be taking charge of project administration and getting involved in all aspects of account management – including providing exceptional support. It’s essential that you are self-motivated, adaptable and extremely enthusiastic, as this varied role will see you working across several different accounts, tasks and challenging projects - from film to brochure production.

Key responsibilities

In this Account Manager job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting senior colleagues in pitching and presenting to a range of key clients
  • Helping to develop new business leads
  • Onboarding new clients
  • Reporting directly to the agency’s Managing Director
  • Taking charge of project administration
  • Working closely with your Account Director to support their needs
  • Assisting in all aspects of account management across three key accounts

So, what are we looking for?

  • A 2.1 from a Russell Group university
  • 1-2 years’ experience in an Account Executive role
  • Experience working in direct marketing / below the line marketing would be ideal
  • Experience in film campaign creation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong interest in digital media, particularly advertising
  • A solid understanding of social media
  • An upbeat personality and motivated approach

  • Understanding new topics, industries, market audiences and potential suppliers quickly
  • Identifying the key sectors to sell into and building and maintaining a healthy pipeline of qualified leads
  • Exceeding agreed revenue targets for each conference and maximising revenue from each brand new deal as well as previous sponsors
  • Account management of current clients including forward selling and creating strong relationships with senior level decision makers
  • Making between 80-120 calls a day
  • Writing bespoke sponsorship packages as well as some marketing and copywriting
  • Arranging and conducting face-to-face client meetings
  • Working closely with the marketing, production and operations team
  • Running the conference and exceeding clients’ expectations on the actual day of the conference

  • 1-2 years of experience in B2B sales across sponsorship or delegate sales
