The worst job I've had

I once worked taking donations for a charity Christmas campaign, opening and reading 400+ Christmas cards a day. The job started in September, and by the time it got to Christmas I most certainly was not in the Christmas spirit.

Job description

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, you will be responsible for the direct-to-business sales channels. This will involve managing new leads and successfully converting them into clients, as well as supporting their onboarding by liaising with third parties and introducer platforms. You will need to be highly adaptable, personable, and well versed with FinTech – as this role will require you to understand different businesses, and handle the entire sales cycle, from lead to close.

Key responsibilities

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking responsibility for the direct-to-business sales channel - including managing outbound and inbound calls, website applications as well as leads from third parties (liaising with customers and brokers)
  • Converting leads to actual ‘packaged applications’ by confirming the business’ requirements, checking eligibility and gathering documents
  • Gaining an excellent understanding of the product
  • Supporting and liaising with third parties and introducer platforms
  • Managing leads in the CRM system
  • Assisting in other areas of the business when and where necessary
  • Driving the role forward and creating value for the company
  • Potentially growing the sales team – including coaching, training, mentoring and motivating a small team

So what are we looking for?

  • Experience in (tele)sales (finance / lending sector preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A good understanding of the market dynamics in the SME sector
  • Someone who is comfortable speaking on the phone to clients and partners and has a voice that can ’smile over the phone’
  • The desire and acumen to learn and develop your skills
  • The ability to take the necessary initiative in making decisions, improve process or come up with new ideas to grow the business
  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks at any given time
  • Detail oriented and organised
