In this Events Assistant graduate job, you will be joining a relatively young business that is looking at journalism in an entirely new way. Taking issue with the overwhelming amount of news information we are dealing with, they are tackling the problem head on; creating a daily mobile edition which allows members to share their own views. With huge growth plans in place for the next year, this revolutionary start-up is looking for an Events Assistant to facilitate this growth, by helping to manage their live events and specialised meetings.

Job description - Events Assistant

In this Events Assistant graduate job, you will be an integral part of the team, supporting the Head of Programming across several event management and administrative duties. Your role will cover a number of areas including researching, website management, member services and event planning. You be working with their events platform to manage bookings, and digitally share guest lists with the wider editorial team.

Key responsibilities - Events Assistant

In this Events Assistant graduate job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking responsibility for the smooth running of evening from a logical and practical perspective
  • Ensuring the event rooms are ready for members and speakers - you will be expected to attend 2 events a week and help with the Zoom events as well and Eventbrite
  • Putting together biographies as well as being responsible for briefing notes and slides for your events
  • Monitoring the bookings and promotions via social media and member channels
  • Supporting the partnership team through the event by promoting the event special guests
  • Suggesting speaker and audience ideas to keep the panel and audience as diverse and interesting as possible
  • Helping to build the audience - engage with student communities and share events

Job requirements - Events Assistant

  • A minimum of a 2.1 degree, ideally within a degree that is writing-based
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A passion and a keen interest in journalism and media
  • Flexibility - you will be working within a growing start-up
  • You must be very organised with strong efficiency skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Good Microsoft Office skills
  • Someone who is happy to handle administrative duties and attend events
