Job description - Product Designer

In this UX/UI Designer role in London, you will become the 5th member of the marketing team and 2nd member of the design team, working alongside the Junior Digital Designer. You'll need to be an all-rounder, as you’ll be taking ownership of redesigning our current website, focusing on user experience whilst taking into consideration any SEO implications to designs (with the help of the Marketing Manager). This role will enable you to put forward new ideas, have a real say in the direction of our marketing strategy and play a key role in shaping our website and product roadmap. You will be expected to take on a lot of responsibility; leading the design as well as implementation and testing process from start to finish for each project, liaising with our Developers to fix any issues along the way.

Key responsibilities - Product Designer

In this varied and exciting graduate UX Designer opportunity in London, your responsibilities will include:

  • Bring your creativity to redefine our brand whilst also staying true to our roots.
  • Build a design system to solidify our new brand and establish a visual identify for the new website.
  • End-to-end design for the new website, from building and refining the user experience to producing responsive InVision ready mock-ups with Sketch.
  • Improve both the visual design and functionality for existing client and candidate portals.
  • Managing both the UK and AU website, ensuring they are cohesive and suitable for their different audiences.
  • Self-proofing to ensure that all work is accurate and of a high quality.
  • Working directly with the Marketing Manager and CEO to shape the product roadmap.
  • We want to hear your ideas and utilise your creative experience to help build and maintain a consistent brand that represents Give A Grad A Go and what we do.
  • Contributing to creative brainstorming sessions and researching new ideas.
  • Working with the Marketing Manager to improve the website CMS and streamline existing workflows.
  • Leading the design as well as implementation and testing process from start to finish for each project, liaising with our Developers to fix any issues along the way.
  • Liaising with our Developers to support the user testing and QA processes in order to fix any issues along the way.

Job requirements - Product Designer

  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience of professional work in product design, web design or UI/UX, either from full time or freelance work.
  • Experience leading a project end-to-end across the entire product lifecycle, from conception, to design and prototyping, along with developer handover.
  • Either a degree in a user design focused subject such as Product Design, User Experience Design, User Interface Design etc., or completion of a Product / UX UI bootcamp.
  • Able to use your own initiative to solve problems and act on opportunities to improve product offering.
  • A strong portfolio of UX and UI projects, with examples of shipped websites / apps.
  • Fluency in Sketch. Figma knowledge is a plus, but we mainly use Sketch so that our Developers are able to convert final mock-ups directly into HTML.
  • Some HTML skills and basic CSS skills.
  • UX writing skills are a plus.
  • The ability to work to deadlines and juggle a range of tasks at any given time.
  • Someone who can work autonomously on smaller projects, as a small team on larger projects, and also as a key member within a larger team.
