I’d applied for a few roles through Give A Grad A Go, but wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to do. I came in to visit the team to discuss what kinds of graduate jobs my skills would be best suited to, and I really liked the atmosphere in the office. Although I’d never really considered a career in graduate recruitment before, when I spoke to the team about the possibility of a job here I thought that it sounded like something I’d be good at – and here I am!

The worst job I've had

I held a job doing door-to-door sales for a number of different charities. Hopefully I learnt something from the late evenings cold calling in the rain!

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, you will be undertaking a B2C telesales role where you’ll be contacting customers, building report with decision makers and booking appointments for the more senior members of the team. You will be qualifying businesses by their FX requirements, the risk that they are exposed to, and by explaining how the service can add value to their business. It’s essential that you are adaptable, professional and confident, as you’ll be taking on a huge range of responsibilities, as well as undertaking extensive training and development.

Key responsibilities

  • Establishing trading opportunities with newly registered customers
  • Providing support to customers and prospects

In this Sponsorship Manager job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding new topics, industries, market audiences and potential suppliers quickly
  • Identifying key businesses in order to build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified leads
  • Exceeding agreed revenue targets for each conference and maximising revenue from each brand new deal as well as previous sponsors
  • Account management of current clients including forward selling
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior level decision makers
  • Making a minimum of 50 cold calls and 10 effective conversations per day
  • Writing bespoke sponsorship packages as well as some marketing and copywriting
  • Arranging and conducting face-to-face client meetings
  • Working closely with the marketing, production and operations teams
  • Proactively keeping abreast of the latest trends in consultative selling through books, newsletters, webinars and forums as well as having internal coaching to improve your skills

  • Ideally, a 2.1 or higher in a technology / engineering / business-related subject
  • 2-3 years’ of experience in B2B sales across sponsorship or delegate sales
  • A passion for clean energy and environmental change is a must!
  • A professional, calm, courteous and friendly manner
  • The ability to influence and persuade senior decision makers, as well as close high-ticket sales with ease
  • Insightful problem solving, with the ability to handle objections with confidence and ease
