Job description - Operations Analyst

In this Operations Analyst role, you will be joining the company's commercial department, initially working on the Chartering desk who fix employment for the vessels liaising with brokers and contractual counterparts to ensure contracts are prepared thoroughly for execution. After approximately 6 months of fast paced learning on the Chartering desk, the role moves to the Operations desk where you will be responsible for managing the operations of vessels in the fleet as they perform contacts fixed by the Chartering desk.

The Operations team is the hub of the Commercial department and will further develop your understanding of the business and the industry enabling you to work more efficiently and foster strong relationships with regular counterparts. The ideal candidate for the role will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment, and will need to be exceptionally well organised.

Job Responsibilities - Operations Analyst

In this Operations Analyst role, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the Commercial desk in all aspects of vessel trading and operations
• Preparing documents and clearances for contracts
• Managing day-to-day operations of vessels including execution of voyages, stemming bunkers, liaising with clients, brokers and port agents
• Helping to identify and implement improvements in department processes
• Ensuring accurate and regular information is provided to all parties, both external clients and internal departments.
• Compile and distribute daily operations reports
• Various administrative duties, including sending daily updates to clients, documentation, data entry and clerical assistance

Job requirements - Operations Analyst

• Degree educated ideally 2:1 level
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Confidence to act autonomously and decisively in high pressured environments
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills
• Strong numeracy skills
• Some form of previous work experience is beneficial but not an advantage
• Stellar working knowledge of Microsoft Office package particularly Excel
