Job description - Desktop Support

In this Desktop Support role, you will be trained from the ground up to offer desktop support on all core systems, web services, telephone systems, operating systems, and networking. You will be working with all internal staff (including supporting the online teams), to ensure that client journeys are correctly documented and signposted. Full training will be provided, with a key focus on a good eye for detail and accuracy, and the ability to follow direction concisely.

The successful candidate will be based in the London office and required to cover 2 shifts, 09.30 to 17.30, and to 10.00 to 18.00, the latter of these will be the primary shift. In addition, the candidate will be required to take part in some rotating weekday and weekend on call rota from home, and may occasionally need to work weekends. Weekday on call is from 18.00 to 21.15 and weekend on call is from 10.00 to 12.00.

Key responsibilities - Desktop Support

In this IT Support graduate job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Answering calls to the IT departments and responding to requests as they come through, raising tickets and action
  • Dealing with internal technical issues, printers, headsets, and PC / laptop setups
  • Providing technical support to internal staff
  • Taking ownership of user problems and being proactive when dealing with user issues
  • Logging issues and maintaining full documentation, plus creating supporting documents where necessary
  • Responding to enquiries from staff and helping them resolve any hardware or software problems
  • Maintaining a log of any software or hardware problems detected

Job requirements - Desktop Support

  • A technical background is ideal, although candidates not educated in IT or Computer Science but with a passion for technology are encouraged to apply!
  • Previous experience or understanding of Active Directory is very beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written/vocal communication
  • Good working knowledge of MS Windows 10, Office 2013, and other basic OS systems
  • Experience using and troubleshooting Outlook (permissions, calendar sharing, and delegation)
