Job Description

In this Junior Trader job in London, the successful candidate will have the unique chance for swift progression into a full trading role where you can expect to be completing your own trades rapidly. To continue their success, our client is in search of the best in their class to come on board and as such they offer an extensive, on the job training programme to ensure new employees are up and running as quickly as possible. Key Responsibilities

After initial training, the Junior Trader will be responsible for the daily management of the central risk book:

  • Take responsibility for some middle and back-office duties
  • Proactively researching and developing an understanding of markets
  • Working with senior traders to develop proprietary trading strategies
  • Taking responsibility for monitoring position, risk and PnL
  • Rapidly progressing to trading your own sector of the energy market
  • Relentlessly seeking opportunities to improve yourself and the firm

Job Requirements

  • A strong academic track record with a minimum of a 2.1 degree (preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Maths, Physics or Economics)
  • Excellent numerical skills twinned with an active and avid interest in finance & trading
  • Advanced Excel/Basic to intermediate VBA
  • The resilience to see a project through from start to finish and work long hours when needed
  • A real self-starter with an entrepreneurial streak
  • Flawless communication & interpersonal skills
  • 6+ months professional experience ideally, but please note this is not a pre-requisite.
