In this London based Investor Relations Executive opportunity, you will be joining a fresh, innovative, high-impact marketing and sales solution for fund managers looking to develop and expand their distribution efforts across Europe. As a “Third-Party Marketer”, they work closely with a small number of high-quality fund managers from around the world and aid with their asset raising efforts across Europe. As the asset management industry comes under increased fee pressure, the role of outsourced sales and marketing is becoming much more important.

They are a new breed of Third-Party Marketer aiming to bring an institutional quality to the industry. In-depth, technical knowledge of fund managers’ strategies and strong market intelligence are the cornerstones of their approach to asset raising and retention, enabling them to represent their fund managers with authority and match them intelligently with suitable investors across the institutional and wholesale spectrum. They have raised over $1.8bn in assets for their clients, and they believe there is an opportunity to increase “AuM” substantially in the years ahead.

Job Description

This Sales Executive job in London is an exciting opportunity for an early-stage professional in the asset management industry to join a boutique, highly entrepreneurial team in a new UK distribution role and build a career in investor relations and asset sales. The role involves developing investor contacts and building on existing relationships with a wide range of investors.

You will understand investors’ criteria and decision-making processes, offer thoughtful and technically detailed summaries of our client fund managers’ strategies, prepare the way for and then take charge of Portfolio Manager introductions where appropriate in person, or via VC, etc. (depending on Covid restrictions), ensure excellent quality follow up and feedback in both directions and manage the flow of information to enable asset flows. Once assets are won, it will be a key part of your role to help to maintain support and information flows in order to defend those assets.

Key Responsibilities

In this Investor Relations Executive role in London, your responsibilities will include:

  • Extend Investment Sales within existing territories:
    • London – extend client base alongside existing team
    • UK Regions – build on existing relationships and take on sole territory responsibility for UK (ex-London) investor base.
  • Drive investment sales in line with business targets
    • Organise meetings / calls, etc. towards investment decision
    • Understand fee basis for all investment sales
    • Track investment flows and redemptions
    • Defend assets raised
  • Investor Base
    • Develop relationships with fund selectors
    • Promote client strategies to fund selectors
    • Plan and organise introductions with client PMs via VC and CC
    • Maintain on-brand presentation values in all investor communications
  • Liaise with Strategic Partners
    • Produce Quarterly Marketing and Lead Status Reports
    • Maintain on-brand presentation values in all fund manager communications
  • Manager Roster
    • Contribute to discussion about potential new managers
    • Potentially some manager search work depending on experience
  • Internal Reporting
    • Management Reporting
    • Asset Projections
    • Activity & Travel Plans
    • Territory Development Plans
  • Database
    • Build the database of suitable fund selectors
    • Maintain database notes on fund selectors preferences and lead progress for all relevant strategies

Job Requirements

  • A 2.1 degree from university
  • At least 1 years’ experience in the Asset Management Industry in a sales or client liaison role
  • A strong technical understanding of asset sales
  • A strong natural interest in and understanding of financial markets
  • Knowledge of the UK wholesale financial market
  • IMC qualification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience of using a CRM database (we use Satuit)
  • Technical understanding of the asset management industry.
