Job description – Finance Assistant

In this Finance Assistant role in London, you will work closely with the Group Head of Finance as well as working on projects with the founder. This role will see you getting involved in all aspects of the financial operations of this group and gaining exposure to a range of projects. Key responsibilities – Finance Assistant

In this Finance Assistant job, your responsibilities will include:

Accounting function

  • Reconciling all daily transactions from the bank account into Xero
  • Ensuring that Xero is up to date, accurate and fully reconciled
  • Issuing sales invoices
  • Owning the aged debtors listing, reviewing debtor days and acting as credit control
  • Processing of supplier invoices, staff expenses and obtaining documentation to support all bank transactions
  • Preparing monthly calculations for accrued/deferred income adjustments
  • Setting up bi-weekly payment runs ready for approval
  • Supporting with the preparation of cash flow forecasts and monitoring their accuracy
  • Assisting with monthly payroll preparation, setting payments up on the bank and posting monthly payroll journals
  • Suggesting changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency and cost reductions

Reporting function

  • Assist Group Head of Finance with the monthly management accounts by preparing reconciliations of key balance sheet items, including prepayments and accruals
  • Assist with the year-end accounts process

Job requirements – Finance Assistant

  • 2:1 from a top University (Ideally finance, accounting, economics, maths or similar)
  • Commercial experience within an accounting role
  • Ideally studying towards the AAT qualification
  • Experience of working with an accounting software, preferably Xero
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise with excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Strong Excel skills
