As Head Resourcer, I work across a range of roles and sectors - although much of my focus is on graduate jobs in Banking & Finance and FinTech, as well as our internal hiring. I also get involved in a lot of our university outreach, building relationships with current students in preparation for their job search.

The worst job I've had

The worst job I’ve had definitely has to be working at department store in Birmingham. It was always incredibly busy, plus the store was a logistical nightmare!

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, you will be joining an existing team of 2, working to identify, contact and convert potential clients into new business. Day to day, your role will involve managing the entire sales cycle, from lead to close – so you’ll be contacting businesses via phone and email, negotiating terms and fees, and playing a role in ongoing relationship management, ensuring that new clients receive the very best level of service. You will need to be a good negotiator with exceptional people skills – as your role will see you liaising with a range of potential new clients, then supporting them throughout their journey.

Key responsibilities

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying new businesses leads and researching industry sectors for new potential clients
  • Calling, emailing and converting outbound and inbound leads into new clients
  • Negotiating terms and fees over the phone & email
  • Contributing to marketing ideas & strategies
  • Attending conferences and exhibitions to help promote the brand
  • Ongoing relationship management - ensuring new clients are receiving a high level of service
  • Ultimately helping to increase the number of businesses that are using the Give A Grad A Go service

You will need to have 2-3 years’ experience in B2B sponsorship or delegate sales, as well as a passion for clean energy – as you’ll be tasked with effectively selling the events, as well as managing the sales pipeline.

Key responsibilities

In this Sponsorship Manager job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding new topics, industries, market audiences and potential suppliers quickly
  • Identifying key businesses in order to build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified leads
  • Exceeding agreed revenue targets for each conference and maximising revenue from each brand new deal as well as previous sponsors
  • Account management of current clients including forward selling
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior level decision makers
  • Making a minimum of 50 cold calls and 10 effective conversations per day
  • Writing bespoke sponsorship packages as well as some marketing and copywriting
  • Arranging and conducting face-to-face client meetings
  • Working closely with the marketing, production and operations teams
  • Proactively keeping abreast of the latest trends in consultative selling through books, newsletters, webinars and forums as well as having internal coaching to improve your skills

  • Ideally, a 2.1 or higher in a technology / engineering / business-related subject
  • 2-3 years’ of experience in B2B sales across sponsorship or delegate sales
  • A passion for clean energy and environmental change is a must!

  • The ability to influence and persuade senior decision makers, as well as close high-ticket sales with ease
