They are now looking for a Commercial Analyst with an interest in Finance, to maintain and partner with the wider business and undertake projects alongside various commercial finance tasks.

Job description

In this Finance Analyst job in Surrey, you will you will be supporting various teams within the company, understanding and communicating key insights such as sales margins, promotional activities, pricing, annual customer agreements, forecasting, and more. You’ll ensure that all of these activities are informed by data driven insight, and provide recommendations across the business in line with goals and strategy. You’ll be working with different departments to maintain the accuracy and integrity of master data within site systems. You’ll need to be adaptable and business-savvy, as you will be working on a number of different tasks that will have a huge impact on their success.

Key responsibilities

In this Commercial Analyst job, your role will include:

  • Understanding and communicating drivers of volume, sales & margin variances on weekly, monthly and annualised basis, providing value added insights.
  • Ensuring promotional activity & price changes are approved in a timely manner eliminate pricing errors.
  • Supporting the finance team in presenting timely and accurate information to other areas of the business.
  • Ensuring that all promotional activity in the accounts is justified, either financially or commercially, and is aligned with brand strategies, and agreed in timely manner.
  • Working with business partners on ad-hoc analysis and financial decision support - to identify, quantify and communicate both risks and opportunities to ensure maximum chance of taking advantage of opportunities or mitigating risk.
  • Ensuring annual customer agreements / joint business plans accurately quantified and the financial impact for SDUK is clearly communicated, highlighting key drivers & assumptions to allow the business to make informed decisions.
  • Recommending and challenging changes to the annual terms offered to customers, which encourages growth and increased profitability in the account.
  • Challenging forecast assumptions to ensure they are robust, hold business partners accountable for ensuring forecasts in the system are always the most up to date view & showing the most likely outcome.
  • Championing financial controls and procedures to ensure that all key issues are identified, communicated and captured in all the appropriate systems.
  • Contributing to the team’s continuous improvement efforts through putting ideas forward and owning delivery of projects.

Job requirements

  • 1 year + experience within an accounts/finance role. We will also consider those that have completed a years’ placement at university.
  • Studying towards CIMA/ACCA accounting qualification is ideal. Study support will be available.
  • Able to demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to present financial information clearly & succinctly to senior management.
  • Able to demonstrate well-developed analytical skills combined with the ability to present detailed information clearly and succinctly to Senior Management.
  • Proactive & inquisitive, with a desire to progress.
  • Strong numerically with a high attention to detail
  • Able to show a history of building and maintaining effective relationships with non-finance stakeholders.
