In this Property Surveyor role, you will be joining an established British organisation operating to provide the local community clergy with housing; as well as the management and maintenance that follows this. They are based in Essex and East London. They aim to make the best economic and social use of land and property assets.

Job description – Property Surveyor

In this Graduate Property Surveyor role in London, you will be responsible for the effective management and maintenance of 400 carefully selected operational properties in the estate. In addition to managing the planned maintenance of property, the role also requires you to deliver asset strategy through the improvement, replacement, acquisition, and disposal of properties. This is a highly varied role and will allow the successful candidate to liaise with a wide variety of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities – Property Surveyor

In this Property Surveyor job in London, your responsibilities will include:

  • Work within and support a busy, multi-disciplined, property team that aims to deliver the best quality of clergy housing possible within the constraints of budget and policy
  • Support the Lead Surveyor to undertake delivery of the periodic surveying and maintenance programme
  • Assist the Estate Manager to prepare void properties for rent on the open market through property inspection and specification and instruction of voids works
  • Support the department to undertake acquisition, disposal, and replacement of clergy houses including rental accommodation as required
  • Support the department to plan and manage refurbishment projects and improve clergy houses
  • Undertake legal processes including planning applications and building control permissions
  • Maintain statutory and regulatory compliance through effective and robust instruction of contractors and data input and management
  • Support to the Lead Surveyor to manage condition and lease of closed churches
  • Undertake such other projects and reasonable duties as may be required by the Director or Diocesan Surveyor/Estates Manager

Job requirements – Property Surveyor

  • BSc or MSc degree in Building Surveying or similar
  • Associate status with CIOB or RICS
  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • Commercial experience within the property sphere – with proven examples of completing property surveys and care plans
  • Competent in using CAD software
  • Some experience producing computer aided design drawings and assisting with planning applications
  • Strong communication skills – you are confident speaking with a wide variety of professionals and stakeholders
  • Confidence to act autonomously and decisively in high pressured environments
  • Strong time management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office package
  • A strong team player, with an interest in uplifting others along the way
