The worst job I've had

I used to spend the gap between semesters at uni working at a school uniform shop. I really didn't enjoy retail and the shop was massively overrun with angry teenagers arguing with their parents... but you have to pay off the overdraft somehow!

Job description

In this Client Services Manager job, you will be responsible for building and maintaining a positive relationship with the company's book of clients. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will need to help the company's clients navigate the complex world of app marketing and connect with their consumers; so an ability to connect with clients as individuals is key in this role.

Key responsibilities

In this Client Services Manager job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of new client projects from kick-off all the way through to delivery of the consultancy programme, ongoing management and optimisation
  • Assuming a client-centric position, developing an in-depth understanding of their business and being able to make recommendations based in their best interests
  • Working with the strategic growth team to define the initial project scope and prepare the delivery plans, scope documents, schedules, budgets and testing
  • Responding to immediate client requests and managing the internal resources to accommodate
  • Managing and working alongside a multi-skilled client team and their work, ensuring consistency in all deliverables
  • Communicating key strategies to the client, both verbal and written, tailoring the communication style to various clients
  • Delivering a great standard of client service, developing the client relationships and consistently managing their expectations
  • Working with the project teams to gather learnings for future projects and identifying improvements to the delivery process
  • Addressing client queries effectively and in a timely manner, and acting as a point of escalation for troubleshooting and problem deep-dives

Job requirements

  • A 2.1 from a top university
  • 3-5 years’ experience, ideally in a mobile, digital agency or development role
  • Previous experience in Client Services or an Account Management role
  • Team management and leadership skills, including goal setting and performance feedback
  • Have a creative approach to problem solving
  • Have a strong grasp of best practice in mobile and digital projects
  • An excellent communicator, able to push back and suggest alternatives
  • The ability to be organised and manage others to be organised
