Business Development Manager - Job description

In this Business Development Manager job, you will play an instrumental role in their next phase of growth. Joining the heart of the business, you’ll manage the pipeline of inbound leads and become the vital first point of contact for prospective software and advice customers who are excited to get on board with their revolutionary product and services. You’ll represent the brand and create and develop lasting B2B client relationships with exciting start-ups and SMEs. You’ll also qualify and chase your own leads, pitch to prospects and educate clients, negotiate and close new deals, and get involved with business development strategy.

Business Development Manager - Key responsibilities

In this Sales Manager job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of the sales cycle, and striving for business and revenue growth
  • Managing the leads pipeline, researching and qualifying inbound leads
  • Become the vital first point of contact for new clients, taking a consultative approach to understand their needs, challenges and business goals, and educate them on exactly how this HR platform can help their business
  • Chasing your own outbound leads and experimenting with prospecting strategy
  • Client pitching and presentations
  • Negotiating and closing deals
  • Developing the business development and sales strategy, and assisting with project work

Business Development Manager - Job requirements

  • Previous experience in sales/business development is essential, 1+ year
  • Excellent at building strong relationships and clear and confident communication skills
  • A highly driven and ambitious self-starter
  • Keen on tech platforms and start-ups – previous experience in these areas is ideal
  • Confident and enthusiastic
  • Independent worker to suit their fluid and flexible working structure
  • Driven to exceed goals and targets, motivated by KPIs
  • Great listening skills to understand client needs
  • Human and empathetic in your sales approach
  • Excellent organisation and resilience
  • A passion for small start-ups with the want to ‘Make Work Better’
