The worst job I've had

By far, the worst job I've had was working as a hotel bartender, while my colleagues and the guests were lovely the same could not be said for my manager. He was generally horrible to all of us and actually threw a chair at me once. Plus, I was working a 55 hour week which was pretty terrible.

Job description

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, you will be acting as a face for the company, handling inbound sales and enquiries, and liaising with a broad range of different people. Your main purpose will be to convert inbound calls from new and existing clients into sales for the company. As you will be selling their service to a range of prospective customers, you’ll need to know it inside-out; so a keen interest in tech and SaaS will be required.

Key responsibilities

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting high volume prospecting (60-100 activities per day) to qualify leads through calls, live chat and emails
  • Managing relationships with up to 100 qualified leads per month
  • Scheduling qualification calls and analysing business requirements
  • Conducting one-to-one demonstrations and writing business proposals to qualified leads
  • Working with partner companies to refer business and resolving outstanding queries
  • Forecasting daily, weekly and monthly quotas

Job requirements

  • A 2:1 from a top university
  • Experience in sales or in a heavily client / customer-facing role
  • A personable and organised graduate with an excellent telephone manner and written communication skills
  • The desire to meet and exceed measurable performance goals
  • A proactive, enthusiastic and confident individual
  • Prior experience in SaaS or other software related B2B sales roles is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge whether written or spoken of other languages would be advantageous
