The worst job I've had

I have been very fortunate, I've always enjoyed and loved all jobs I've held, from being a waiter in a tapas bar, working on a hog roast stall (by far the tastiest), a hand full of bar roles at local pubs or even working in the tea rooms at the National Trust. I've always chosen jobs which I love and enjoy that way it doesn't feel like I'm working (as hard).

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, you will be playing a crucial role in helping the business grow in the UK. Reporting directly to the UK Managing Director, you will be undertaking a range of tasks to help grow the presence of the business in the UK – including liaising with senior stakeholders to arrange meetings, outbound calling, connecting with potential clients and ensuring that all project deadlines are met. It’s essential that you are dynamic, ambitious and highly organised - because you’ll be in charge of identifying prospective clients, and securing appointments for the fields sales team to attend.

Key responsibilities

In this Business Development Executive graduate job, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely within the business development team to create a strategy to know who you’re targeting
  • Identifying companies who match the company’s services and reaching out to key decision makers and influential contacts
  • Following up on leads and intelligence from internal and external parties
  • Outbound, inbound and email prospecting – you’ll be searching via LinkedIn, outbound calling and working through email marketing campaigns
  • Connecting with senior stakeholders to arrange meetings for the business development team
  • Booking in meetings and creating proposals
  • Working closely with the UK Managing Director to update on regular project plans
  • Ensuring that all project deadlines are met, and internal teams are updated on any changes
  • Participating in trade shows and other networking events from time to time as required

So, what are we looking for?

  • A minimum of a 2.2 from university
  • At least 1 year’s experience within a B2B sales-based role, ideally within SaaS sales
  • A strong interest in tech and startups
  • A familiarisation with business software is an advantage
  • A fantastic phone manner – you’ll be engaging, professional and personable
  • Brilliant attention to detail with high levels of grammar and articulation
  • The ability to multi-task – you’ll be joining a small company so there will be lots of crossover & many different elements to the role
  • Fantastic organisational and listening skills
  • An eagerness to learn and progress
